It is with a very heavy heart tonight, that I write to say that I made the decision to have my baby girl put to sleep today at 4:00.

I believe that Strawberry had been grieving for her Tessa for the last year and she just gradually kept loosing weight, no matter how much or what all she ate. She started grinding her teeth just after Tessa was gone, dentist said there was nothing wrong with her toofies.... So i know it was just the stress from loosing her best friend in the whole world. Sad

The last couple of weeks, she could not get up on her own, and she was afraid to lie down to sleep......I knew it was time for her to go and be with her Tessie

I felt Tessa's presence with us this afternoon, and I know she showed Strawberry the way back to Heaven, where Little Bit, Toy, Puddin' and all the rest of the special babies were there to greet them when they arrived.

Our dear friend, my Earth Angel, Andy, was here with us today. Bless his heart, he had used the skidsteer and dug Strawberry's grave next to Babe's out on the ranch earlier.

This morning he had gone to Clovis and run some errands, picked up my grass hay and stopped at the big seed company and bought a bag of native wild flowers to spread on Strawberry's grave.

When we got to the graves, I was absolutely amazed at what I saw! Last Decemeber Andy chose that site for Babe, because there were some remnants of sunflowers and he said, perhaps they will grow again next spring.

Well, in that whole 350 acres, that is the only place there are sunflowers! And they are thick and huge with the rain we have had this year! And all around her grave are such a big variety of wild flowers, it's just beautiful!

I raked the little bit of bare ground on Babe's grave and sewed some flower seeds there, too.

Before the rest of the ranch horses were moved to the other
side of the ranch with the cattle, they had rubbed on Babe's cross that I had made her, so I took my screw driver and some screws out and fixed it.

David drove one of the fire trucks out and after Andy spread straw over the flower seeds, and they watered them real good.....it will most likely be next spring before we see the blooms, but it will be something to look forward to. :-)

Andy and I were sanding at Strawberry's grave and looked down to see a beautiful butterfly .....the only one we could see, I told Andy, maybe that is little Strawberry....then it flew away. :-)

Rest in peace my precious baby girl, we miss you

I will down load some pictures into Photobucket and post them here tomorrow.

Back with her beloved Tessie once again. Very Happy

Janell, reading your post, I couldn't help but shed tears because I know just how special little Strawberry was to you. And to think she was grieving to the point of becoming sick, well that speaks volumes on just how sentient these little babies are; they feel grief, pain, sorrow just as we do. I dread the day I have to say goodbye to one of our little boys, they too are quite close, although Fundy is the more independent one. Little Tessa and the others all welcomed her and now she runs in a perfect little body. I believe we will be reunited with our loved ones including our furbabies one day. My heart goes out to you, I know how much you must miss her! Hugs to you from Fundy, Toby and me. abbraccio
