Hi Cathy, and Janell,

I will be putting pictures of the modifications that we will make to Bernie's new right shoes. I am hoping to get them tomorrow!!! He has healed from the pressure sore on his right front leg, only to get one on the right rear leg Crying or Very sad . I let him go without a brace on the right front for a couple of hours today. He still tries to walk on the edge of the shoe, but he was standing flat. Very Happy then his leg got tired and the brace went back on.

I would call that remarkable!!! He has not stood flat on the right for a very long time. I let him go without the brace for a few minutes on the rear, and he would turn his foot onto the side, but not all the way like before. I put a shorter brace on him but after about two hours his leg was tired and needing the taller brace. I put extra padding in it because of the sore. He is improving. I am just amazed at how great these shoes are:-)

By the way Auntie Nell, Bernie sends his lovin & smootchin your way.

Well it's getting late and I need some sleep. Cathy thank you for your words of encouragement. It means a lot.

THANKS,

Sue & Bernie

Bernie is adorable. I had problems with pressure sores on Sally, too. I ended up making thick acrylic fleece wraps, with a moderately snug ace, and leg wraps over them to brace her legs. As you can see I also made a sling for working on her feet, trimming, soaking, etc. I am sure the shoes will help Bernie, let us know if we can help.

Of the time I get on the Internet, so it's most likely my phone 😕

Sally is so cute!!! Very Happy I love the sling. Bernie is only 62 pounds so we can still lift him up. He is a very good boy about being picked up. Then we lay him on his side on a table and tell him, Dead dog Bernie. He will lay flat on his side. We can then do anything that needs to be done. He has the patients of a saint!

I will try to make him some splints like I see in the picture. I don't quite understand how you made them. Did Sally turn her feet to their sides and walk on the side of them? Bernie needs strong reinforcement to keep from turning his feet.

Thank you for your help and suggestions. We can always use help. The picture helps a lot also.

Hi Bridget, I will try to put the picture on here so you can see it. I don't have an I phone. Never thought I needed it. I think when I replace my old flip phone I will look into these I phone.

Bernie sure is having a hard time with his front legs lately. They seem to be getting weaker, and a little wobblier. Some days are good, then we regress. I guess that is normal.

I am going to wrangle that daughter of mine and try to get pics to show up instead of having to click to see them.

Thank you all for caring.

Sue & Bernie(who sends his love)

Yes, Sally's feet turned out, and I didn't find out about the magic shoes until it was too late so they always turned out. We stopped putting boots on her after a few years, and she got around ok.

Sally looks very small. Was that a picture of her at a young age? How big did she get? Bernie is just under 24" and he weighs 62 pounds. He is on the soft grass 24/7 unless the weather is bad. It is easier on him. We live in Arkansas In the heart of the Ozark Mountains and it is real rocky here. That does not help his feet.

When Bernie was just 5 days old the vet talked about putting Bernie down. Crying or Very sad When he was two weeks old we went for a recheck. My precocious 12 year old looked the vet square in the eyes and said "DON'T TELL US WE HAVE TO PUT HIM DOWN". Well that took the doc by surprise. Before we left that day the doc got me off to one side and said he wished we weren't so attached to Bernie. Well I looked him square in the eyes and said "doc it was too late the moment he was born!" I told him it wasn't like we were going to ride him. All he has to do is eat grass, be with his mommy, and be happy.

Well his real mother never leaves him any farther than she can see him. He eats well, first to the food pan, last to leave, and most of the time I think he is happy. I feel he gives us so much more than we give him.

And yes Janell, thank you so much for all you do for these babies. They are truly a blessing to those of us who are allowed to love them for however long they are with us.

Oh, I have gone on tonight. Hope I didn't bore any of you.

Lots of lovin from Bernie

Sue
