Hi everyone I'm joining you from Australia where I have a large suburban block and a mini horse named "Peony" like the flower they call the asian rose, and she is just as beautiful.
She is a taffy chocolate with appaloosa blood and although she is dark chocolate in colour with black spots and honey tips and undertones, she actually comes from a cremello dad and a palomino mum, but looks just like her grandfather.

I fell in love with her the moment i met her and bought her immediately then kept her a secret till Christmas when surely my hubby would not deny me a Christmas pressie - he didn't and he loves her as much as i do now.

She was a wild little thing with no training at all but over the months I taught her to lead and to stop and giddy up to a trot. Since bringing her home for Christmas I have taught her much more and she comes when i call her and waits to be haltered and i take her for walks around the neighbourhood, down to the old pony club grounds actually where i used to drive past every weekend as a child on my way to my grandparents " can we go to pony club today" i would ask "not this week, maybe next" they would say. We never ever went. So when I let hubby know what I had bought myself for Christmas he said " is this the pony you never had as a child?" well I guess it is. So 40 years later we finally get to go to pony club hahaha I guess it's never too late!
Anyway I took my Peony back out to the farm where she was born 2 weeks ago as winter is about to start and it is dark when i get home from work at night and I have no time to walk my Peony. I was going away for the weekend so thought it would be a good pony holiday for her, so she could frolic and have some pony fun.

Well I went to see her last week and was devastated as she did not want to know me, would not let me pat her and it took almost an hour for her to come near me.
She used to run up to me every morning and give me kisses and all.
Now when I bought her she was the most unfriendly of all the ponies - needed the most love I thought.
She'd had a hard time of it when she was born and didn't want to suckle and the farmer thought he was going to lose her so had to force feed her for a few days till she decided it was time to get attached to mum, so she was very wary of people and very skittish when I first met her.
But over the past 9 months she had become super friendly and was a lovely temperament she loved a pat and a scratch so seeing her like this last week it was like the last 9 months of time, love and training was all undone.

The best thing was that she had befriended a little dwarf mini I call Bowie because he has one blue and one brown eye like David Bowie. I asked Farmer Brian if I might bring Bowie home with Peony for company for her as I did not want to leave her for too much longer as I did not want to lose our friendship we had built up.
He agreed so tomorrow I am going to pick them both up and bring back home. This is why I started to look for ways to help Bowie as he is a crippled up little thing. He has deformed legs and when I first met Bowie farmer Brian said the vet wanted to put him down but farmer Brian thought he would do alright as long as he wasn't running with the rest of the herd as they picked on him.His hoofs had grown long and he walked on the sides of his feet but mostly laid around.
When I saw him the other day he was walking much better with his hoofs trimmed up a fair bit, but still walking around on the sides of his legs not the bottom as he should be.
So I am so glad I have found you all here and such a wealth of information and caring. I can't wait to tell farmer Brian tomorrow that we can get Magic Shoes for little Bowie and that he may have a chance at being able to walk and frolic like the rest of the ponies, now that would be something very special indeed. I will try and upload some images for you next time, cheers.
