Hi every one!! This is Pooh. I live inDeBerry, Texas and I have owned horses all my life. I was reaserchin the dwarf miniatures online and I happened to run across yalls group and it looked like there was lots of info to be learned and great friendships, so here I am!!! Rite now I have 7 kids (horses). Laughing I have 4 large horses, 2 minis (one of which is a grandson of Bond Peppy Power), and now my little Dwarf girl!! I have rescued many horses before but never a dwarf, I had never even seen one until baby girl. I was kinda wonderin if they have any special nutritional needs that are different from any other minis??

Hi Pooh,
We have 7 dwarf's called "The Brat Pack" and feed them just as we do the bigger minis! They eat oats and alfalfa / orchard grass hay! They graze in the yard everyday now that it's warmed up a bit! If we have one that's not maintaining their weight good we put them on beet pulp and it fattens them right up! I don't feed any supplements except MSM!

Thanx Mr. Bill! I have been feedin her just as I do my other horses and lettin her graze till her little heart is content. I will git her some MSM. When she walks I can hear her little joints popping already, is that normal at two years? Confused Shes been out in a pasture with other horses her entire life and I know some of them kicked her around!! Evil or Very Mad She is such a sweetheart!! I took pics of her on my phone and I been showin her off to EVERYONE!!! They all love her but some people ask me why I got her if shes so 'messed up'. I tell them that I have a soft spot in my heart for ALL animals, even the ones that no one else wants! I think that EVERY animal deserves a fair chance and a good home, even the ones that look different (especially horses, they are my passion). I call her my SPECIAL BABY GIRL!!! Shes two years old and I will have her until she goes to Horsie Heaven. She seems to be in good health, is there any certain kind of health problems I need to keep a look out for? I dont know if she has ever been wormed either!! Is there a certain wormer I should use or just do the same as I do for my others? I was also thinkin bout shavin her when the nites warm up cause it gits plenty hott out here in East Texas, our summer days usually reach the high 90s to low 100s. I want her to be as comfortable as possible!! Thanx so much for all the helpful info and advice!!
Pooh Very Happy

Welcome to this great group from Myrtle Springs which is between Wills Point and Canton. Still learning the towns in East Texas and the whole state little by little. I recently got my first dwarf mini and this place is great to learn about taking care of our babies or adults. We have many mini animals on our little mini ranch and we specialize in rehabbing deer. We let the 3 yearlings out of the wallaby area today so they can enjoy the rest of the ranch. It will be interesting to see them hang around as they were tame when they came here. Our goal is to rehab and put back into the wild. Enjoy this great group.

Who knows with a dwarf!!!... Perhaps it's "normal" for your Baby Girl, but I would suggest that you try her on a good joint supplement along with an extra teaspoon of the pure MSM for horses, it can't hurt her, and if you can help her with her joints now, she will be much better off as she gets older!

I have tried a couple times to post this reply, and each time something happened( probably touched sompin' on this iPad) and it disappeared, hoping this one works!!!

I was going to tell you that a couple of our members, Cathy Anderson and Kathy Hancock live near you!!!! Very Happy perhaps you guys will get meet some day! Very Happy

I'm glad you are enjoying Little Bit's!... Ya won't find a nicer group of animal loving folks anywhere, I guarantee you that!!!
As you probably have gathered, we LOVE pictures!... Hope you will be able to share some with us of you Baby Girl and anything else you would like to share! Very Happy
