I think it was in 2002 that Pollie was left tied to Veronique's horse trailer when she was at a nursing home with her Minaiture Horses, visiting residents.

Pollie had apparently foundered sometime or another before I got him, and Dr. lamp figured him to be about 1 1/2 years old when I adopted him. Wes trimmed some of his VERY LONG hooves, but they were still about 6 inches long, and curled in all directions. Pollie had learned to walk on his knees, because it hurt too much to walk on his disfigured hooves. Sad

I was able to eventually get his hooves trimmed, to where a couple of his toes actually looked like goat hooves, but he still preferred to walk on his knees.

Pollie was quite a character, and a very good goat. I believe he enjoyed his life here on Johnny Creek Farm. But Dr. Lamp figured that because he was down so much, that when he would burp up his cud to chew it, he was aspirating some of it into his lungs, that's why he kept getting aspiration pneumonia...however, he did pull through several bouts of it, but this last time he had a couple other complications along with it, and I think it was just too much for his little body to endure. Sad

Dr. Lamp and I gave him one last give of love today, 9/24/2008; we helped him cross over the Rainbow Bridge, so now he's not suffering anymore, he's not in any pain, and I am sure he's enjoying his Angel wings, just like all the other good goats that went before him
Rest in peace dear Pollie. Smile
You will be missed, ya onery ol' goat! Very Happy

Here's a few of my favorite pictures of him over the years:

Pollie LOVED snugglin' in Momma's lap

Pollie was a very sweet goat and I am glad that I got to met him. Rest in Peace Pollie, and give hugs and kisses to all our friends.
