Seems like every time I leave home for any extended period of time something bad happens!
When I went on my goat trip in 09 to get fainting goats I got a call our dog, Schmeckle, was sick. The vet called and said he'd been poisoned but thought he had a good chance of making it! Then a couple hours later he called me to tell me he had went into cardiac arrest and died! The vet was crying and he still cries if we talk about Schmeckle to this day! He was such a neat dog! Anyway the neighbor admitted to poisoning him!
Well this morning Bill calls me to tell me that he had bad news! When he went out this morning Baby Girl - our bay mare that was born there was dead. She was my son's as she was born on his birthday - January 29, 2004. He asked if he could have her and so she was really his. I know the neighbor didn't have a hand in it as he died this past July. Anyway Baby Girl will be buried next to my paint gelding, Doc. He was her granddaddy.
RIP BABY GIRL!

Very sad news about Baby Girl. Vickie told me about her loss when we got together to go to the Dallas zoo. We had fun with a friend, my daughter and her two youngest children. Robert, the two year old loved the birds, but we all liked feeding them. Vickie got home and will add her highlights of her trip when she can. We went to Canton Trade Days to look at the animals. We had a lot of fun together. My baby season has started with twin boy fawns. I will stay very busy with feeding critters. Our baby raccoon entertains my grandchildren.

RIP Baby Girl

Vickie, please feel free to make baby Girl a memorial here on the Little It's Angels section of the forum, if you would like, or when you feel up it.

BIG HUGS sweet lady. Love you

Thanks Janell. I will one of these days. Cleaning off a shelf in the washroom last weekend I came across her mane and tail that Bill had saved for me. I had a major meltdown! I love having my babies but it is so hard on me to lose them. I'm almost coming to the conclusion I should find them all homes as when I get upset it makes my pain level jump. But them when I think this - I also think - I can't bear the thought of not having them either. They help keep me sane or partially.
My 4 mares - Hippy, Sapa, Tango and Yougo are bred for babies next year. Spot will be the daddy to all. I let a drs. wife use Linny for a stud this year in exchange for hay. So this worked out well for me. And Linny didn't seem to mind Laughing I should have babies starting in early May. I also have what babies I do have spoken for. So this is good - and they will be close by so I can visit with them - other than one that will be going to the big city (Denver) to become a therapy horse for handicap children! I was reluctant to even want to breed again after having to have Oprah euthanized due to foaling complications. And I haven't bred since this. So have said my prayers that everything works out ok.

WOW! 4 foals next spring! Shocked

I know how it is to come across our horses' hair, I always have to cry, too.

I sure wish something could be done about your pain! Crying or Very sad

Thank you for posting here, I know FB is easier to post pictures, butto me this forum just seems so much more personal, as FB is so public I guess unless you think to change yoke options.

I spoze if we keep posting occasionally, they won't close us down.

Please K W that you are always in my thoughts and prayers Vickie....I know I haven't been very good about sending cards lately, an I apologize Sad

Vickie, please enjoy your babies when they arrive. You can hug on them till they go to their new homes. It is always so hard to loose one of our beloved pets. I think about not having any animals because the loss is so hard on me, but then I think how much joy they bring to me. I will continue taking care of critters for as long as I can. Your rex bunnies are all doing good and waiting for you to come back. When Vickie was here last visit we got two females and I am giving her one male, so she will have lush rex bunnies to love on in the future. They feel so soft. How many of you have ever petted a rex rabbit?

The rex rabbit has very thick dense fur. It is so soft to the touch. Angora rabbits are really soft, too. Most of our bunnies are out in the bounce pasture with the wallabies and deer. I have a few females in a big strong cage to protect them. I also have the male Flemish Giant bunnies in smaller cages. I need to clean them out soon. I know what you mean about cleaning the cage. I have had them in the living room and it does not take long to smell. I just cleaned out the opossum cage. The piddle pads that I use are great to roll up and toss. Sometimes critters eat the pad and make a big mess, but that does not happen that often. Our baby wallaby is still in the living room. She is on washable pads which works great as then she does not make a mess. I hope to hear from more people about petting rex rabbits. Speak up and tell us your stories.

Oh Cathy - so glad Colorado and Two-Face are doing good! LOL - what a story behind these 2. Actually might be coming out that way in October! Won't be a very long stay - my idea and how long we should stay differs slightly from what Bill thinks we should stay! LOL - I'll keep you updated! It would be the week that has the 21st in it though since the 21st is Bill's birthday!

Bob and I look forward to you and Bill coming in October. The upstairs is empty and ready. Our daughter, husband and 5 of our grandkids lived upstairs from January to June. They moved to be close to her work in Allen, TX. Come see us and get those cute bunnies. I have a friend coming tomorrow to pick up a male California bunny for her two girls. We will soon be getting 4 more Flemish Giant bunnies. I love my bunnies.

Keep in mind that Trade Days will be Thursday the 30th thru Sunday, November 2nd, if you want to experience the giant sale again.
