Hi everyone, sorry I haven't posted in a while Embarassed
Week ago today Maggie was seriously sick. I got up at 5 :30am and Maggie had direaha everywhere and shortly after began vomiting and foaming at the mouth.

Around 6:30 I called my vet and got an answering machine not the usual answering service, that always got hold of my vet! The message said in case of an emergency call these 2 other places. These places were at at least an hours drive away! I called anyway in a panic as I knew something was terribly wrong with Maggie.
The woman on the phone told me straight up that it was $200.00 just to walk in the door because it was a Sunday, (holiday to them)!
I hung up and called several other vets close by and they all had the message my vet had! I FINALLY found a vets office where someone actually answered the phone and they told me to bring her in right away.
This vet is at the opposite end of a town from my old vet,(notice I said my OLD VET? actually closer for us.

The doctor took her in right away! Maggie had a temp of 103 and at this point had stopped vomiting. He felt around her tummy and said she seemed to be in a lot of pain. He was thinking pancreitis (sp).
He kept her there about an hour and did the blood test to check the pancreas. The results showed she did have pancreitis and her white cells were elevated quite high. He got down her temperature and prescribed antibiotics for 2 weeks and pain/anti inflamatories. Also prescribed I.D canned dog food for 6 days.
Had to take her back in on Wednesday for him to do a Lipase test again.
The results showed that there was still problems with the pancreas.
he thought it best to keep her on the I.D food for another week and another blood test later this week.

Maggie is acting normal and as usual wants to be outside playing Frisbee but we are to keep her calm for a few days. NOT easy to do with this little girl!

I am asking for your prayers that Maggie gets better from this and that her next test will hopefully show better results.

This new vet is amazing and so kind to Maggie, He has called here several times to check on her as well. I told them that Junior and I have decided to change vets for our dogs. We were with my old vet for over 25 years and always counted on them. When they asked why I was having our dogs files sent to Dr Anderson I told them, Pets get sick and day of the week, not just Monday to Friday 8am to 5pm! I told them that Doctor Anderson is open every day of the week!" that's our kind of vet!
His staff as well as him are very caring and love Maggie!
His office emergency price was $50..!!!! Its that price no matter what day it is!

My animals sometimes drive me crazy...and thats what keeps me sane! Cody, Maggie and Katie.

The greatest regrets in life....are the risks you didn't take!
