( Miss Bucky)
Just want to tell everyone about Miss Bucky! She came to us as a two year old after losing her frist colt in a flash flood in NC. Miss Bucky trusted no one and did not want to be touched! I brought her home in our trailer and tied her and groomed her and combed her tangled tail and mane! It was a mess from not being taken care of! After grooming her, I trimmed her feet! She seemed ok with that! Then I took her to a dry lot and turned her loose! Well, that was the last time I would touch her for 6 months! She would run everytime anyone would go near her and she was very head shigh! It took many, many hours of talking and coaxing to get her to the barn! Once I did get her to enter the barn, the rodeo was on! I finally got her in a stall and closed the gate! Boy, I was pooped and so was Miss Bucky! :D I fed her and left her alone for the night! The next morning when I enter the barn she was standing in the hallway and her stall gate was in the floor! She looked at me if to say, Nana Nana Boo Boo!
I managed to put her in another stall and close the gate! As I turned to walk away she whinnied at me if to say, you win! But it was just a trick to get me to let her out! I didn't buy it! So, I started setting in her stall 30 minutes twice a day and talking to her with my back to her! this went on for days! Then one day out of the blue she walked over to me and took my cap right off my head and proceded to stomp it in the ground! Then she came back to me and nudged me twice on the back as if to say, Look at me when your talking! I turned and stood up and she layed her head in my hand! From that day on she was a [CENSORED] cat! She would let me do anything I wanted to her without a fuss! That next spring she delivered one of the prettiest fillies we have ever had on our farm! Her name was Sultans VanilaCreme a beautiful creamy dun!
Miss Bucky was a wonderful mother to Creamy! She watched her every move and would come running to her baby at the drop of a hat! If Creamy was playing with the other babies and got hungry she would call Miss Bucky and she would come running to feed her and anyone else that want to nurse! She had plenty of milk and was willing to share with all the babies! She was a mother hen! Miss Bucky had a rare quality about her! And she will live in our hearts forever! She was beautiful when running in the pasture and that's what I will always remember about her! Run free with your beautiful baby Miss Bucky!
Here's a pic of Miss Bucky and Creamy the day Creamy was born!
